Our client has delivered prestigious Buildings projects worldwide including the Manchester Civil Justice Centre, Vulcan House (home office building), Maze Sports Stadium-Belfast, Karachi Port Trust Tower (Pakistan) and the Dubai Marina. Along with these prestigious projects there is also huge breadth and depth to the projects that are delivered including Education/Health schemes, and mixed used multi-storey commercial/ residential developments.
Our Clients North West office has a wide range of infrastructure skills and undertakes projects linked to heavy rail, light rail, structures, buildings, earthworks, foundations and regeneration schemes.
They are looking to recruit a Geotechnical Engineer. They require a person with good academic skills in engineering, geology and soil mechanics and be able to apply this knowledge, under guidance, to the ground aspects of schemes particularly through desk studies, ground investigations and geo-design.
Job description
On basic projects supervise graduates on:
Desk studies and reconnaissance of sites.
Preparation of site investigation contract documents
Site supervision of investigations
Monitoring of ground investigation installations
Carry out basic interpretations of investigations and apply to geotechnical aspects of design
Carry out the above duties on more complex projects
Prepare design approaches, undertake calculations and prepare design drawings.
Draft interpretative reports
Review factual reports
The geo engineer will report to the senior geotechnical technical staff
Candidate specification
Essential academic, professional qualifications and experience:
B Sc in Eng Geol or civil eng.
4yrs industry experience gained with a GI contractor or consultant
Desired academic, professional qualifications and experience:
M Sc in Eng Geol/Geotechnical Eng
6 yrs relevant experience with a range of backgrounds and types of work
Essential competencies / skills:
Capable of working in team
Capable of working on own on site
Keen to mentor graduates
Keen to apply academic knowledge to projects
Desired competencies / skills:
Soil mechanics or other specialist academic knowledge
Experience of regeneration projects
