| Experienced Java Developer with Agile Experience needed for a Mobile Technology Division! £30K - £45K Commutable from Poole, Southampton, Bournemouth, Eastleigh, Weymouth, Salisbury, Dorset, Winchester My Client is seeking an experience Java Developer for its newly formed division of based in Poole. What do you need to work here? Historically their focus has been Java, and now they also love Ruby on Rails. 5 years Java is a good minimum, and any production Rails experience is strongly preferred. After 6 years of trying different agile approaches they use a hybrid Scrum/XP process with a strong focus on incremental delivery, continuous integration, TDD and paired programming. Their Rails apps run on virtualized Linux installs backed by relational databases and their Java apps use Orion or JBoss as the server platform with Toplink ORM persistence architecture. Experience with Ant, xUnit and CruiseControl is strongly preferred and knowledge of the Spring Framework and Hibernate would be useful. Their domain is Mobile - specifically the configuration and capabilities of devices, networks and service providers. Nice - but not required - would be any experience with OMA-CP, OMA-DM and WAP-Push technologies as well as any experience working in the mobile industry. You will need very strong (and adaptable) OO design skills, and experience designing, writing and shipping software products is essential (read version/release control, testing and even the dreaded documentation!). You will also be expected see 'beyond the code' and get involved in talking to internal and external customers - translating their (sometimes cryptic) requirements into product features! Basically I am mainly looking for someone bright, energetic and with strong experience and to bring new ideas into the team and challenge the way we do things.
