It is a great pleasure to welcome you to The Hathershaw College of Technology & Sport.

There truly has never been a better time to join us!

We have recently been involved in the establishment of the West Oldham Trust, a Co-operative Trust involving local primary schools and ourselves in working together to make a real difference in our community. This also means close partnership with NHS Oldham, Oldham Sixth form College, Liverpool JM University and Oldham Athletic Football Trust. All of which will support us in making sure that our students leave us with a bright future and all the skills to make the most of it.

Hathershaw is truly a school for the young people of Oldham in the 21st Century. We make full use of the new technology available to us:


• Virtual Learning Environments
• Students e-mailing work to staff
• High quality ICT equipment in all areas of school
• Laptops available to students for work at home
• ‘Learning Gateway' which will allow parents to access their childs' attendance and behaviour records as well as follow their progress.


The curriculum we offer is designed to engage and inspire our young people, providing them with the necessary skills to flourish in what is an ever-changing world.

While ensuring that we provide the traditional subjects such as English, Maths and Science we are aware that we also need to provide vocational and applied subjects such as Travel and Tourism, Construction and Product Design. We are involved in the delivery of the 14 to 19 Diplomas in Construction, Sport and IT.


Our building has stood here for many years but an extensive building and refurbishment programme planned to start in the near future means that we will have a modern, purpose built facility that will serve not only our students but also the local community. As a Technology and Sport College we are proud to involve all students in a variety of activities and often host events for the borough and beyond, the new building work will give us the chance to deliver even more of this.


Alongside all of this we care deeply about the personal development of each of our students and offer a wide range of extra curricular activities to enrich both their academic and social lives. Trips to France, Germany and Italy, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and school productions are just a few examples.


Hathershaw College of Technology & Sport is at the heart of the community it serves and works to provide excellence through enjoyment in learning. We celebrate diversity and value mutual respect. We are proud of the achievements of our youngsters and are looking forward to future success.
